“Elaine Lyon Receives Volunteer of the Year Recognition”

In hopes to instill respect for law in

local youth our club again sponsored a

one week project at the county Juvenile

Justice Center. On Wednesday, May 8th

students asked questions to a panel of

experts made up Macomb County Sheriff

Mark Hackel; Probation Officer Brian

Daniels; County Commissioner Sue

Doherty; JJC Director Chuck Seidelman;

Chief Referee Dane DeRush and L’Anse

Creuse JJC School Coordinator John

Klatt.

Optimist club member Jeff Sprys

directed the questions following an

opening statement by President Lyon.

The poster contest was directed by Pat

Rabaut Miller and she awarded first,

second and third place certificates to the

winning students.

At the end of the program Elaine Lyon

was recognized for her volunteerism and

Karen Lafata was recognized for 36 years

of service as a teacher at the JJC School.

The Optimist Creed

 Promise Yourself . . .

To be so strong that nothing can destroy your piece of mind.

To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.

To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.

To think only of the best,

to work only for the best and expect only the best.

To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are

about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the

greater achievements of the future.

To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every

living creature you meet a smile.

To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have

no time to criticize others.

To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear,

and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
