 Wigs 4 Kids Raffle:

In June, the CMOC raised $3000 that was donated to the Wigs 4 Kids founder, Maggie Varney, to support her efforts to

provide free wigs to children with cancer and other illnesses.

This effort was accomplished by holding a 6 month weekly raffle that culminated with a party and taste fest where grand prizes

were drawn, 10 ponytails were cut and many more previously cut ponytails donated.

       Michigan Sled Dogs

On September 19th, the Michigan Sled Dogs (a hockey team for players with disabilities) and members of Warrior Sports squared off for a charity hockey game.

The Michigan Sled Dogs beat the Warriors but everyone ended up a winner when the donations for the night topped $2000.

Children’s Home of Detroit-vs-Central Macomb Optimist Club Baseball Game:

On Saturday, September 29th the members of the Central Macomb Optimist Club played a friendly game of baseball

with the kids from the CHD on the new field that the club renovated during the summer of ‘07.

Professional referees called the game and all were treated to a “baseball game buffet” complete with popcorn and peanuts after the game.

Kids of the County

On October 27th, through the generosity of several local businesses and a discount at the Meijer store located at 26 mile

and Van Dyke, 100 children were able to shop with a reserve from the Macomb County Sheriff’s Department.

Each child was able to spend $142 on essential items such as clothing, books, food, etc.  CMOC member were on hand to

help pack up everyone’s purchases.
